redONE partners with DWA to drive Digital Entrepreneur Programme

KUALA LUMPUR – redONE Network Sdn Bhd (redONE), ASEAN’s largest Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Digital Way Academy Sdn. Bhd. (DWA) – an education social enterprise, to drive digital upskilling and reskilling efforts for Malaysians through the Digital Entrepreneur Programme, through one of the first KPT Career Advancement Programmes (Entrepreneurship Track) powered by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.

The signing ceremony of this MoA was held on the 4 March 2022 at Digital Way Academy headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. The audience of the ceremony in attendance consisted of DWA, redONE, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and UTMSPACE delegations. redONE was represented by its Chief Sales Officer, Ben Teh, while DWA was represented by their Founders, namely its Chairman Dato’ Wei Chuan Beng and its Managing Director Ms. Wei Su Hwa.

In his speech, Ben Teh said that this MoA would establish a strategic partnership between DWA and redONE in the crucial development of digital entrepreneurs, especially for the unemployed graduates. He emphasised, “We need to help young entrepreneurs better leverage the digital economy and create viable solutions to solve unemployment issues among fresh graduates so that they can have ample opportunities to improve their quality of life and even thrive in the long term.”

Dato’ Wei Chuan Beng, Chairman of DWA who is also an Adjunct Professor of UTM, highlighted, “To address the high unemployment rate and shortage of jobs, digital entrepreneurship is the formula to bring more job opportunities to Malaysians while propelling our country’s progress towards becoming a digitally-driven nation. Through this partnership, the trained digital entrepreneurs will benefit from redONE’s holistic entrepreneur ecosystem, allowing them to thrive in a supported environment. This initiative is the beginning of our effort in arming our workforce with digital skills to adapt to the new digital era and entirely new career opportunities to come”.

Ms. Wei Su Hwa, Managing Director of DWA, additionally emphasised, “This partnership bridges government (KPT), industry (redONE) and University (UTM) to equip budding entrepreneurs with the key competencies to build a modern digital business. Together with UTM, we have designed a highly-relevant curriculum in Digital Business Development, paired with life competencies such as Growth Mindset, Leadership and Communication. In addition, the learning methods are designed to ensure effective learning, including case studies, simulations, and mentorship”.

redONE and DWA join hands in widening the impact within Malaysia to make digital entrepreneurship more accessible and inclusive to achieve a substantial and long-lasting impact for Malaysian youth, who will be essential contributors to society and the economy.

Through this partnership, eligible unemployed Malaysian graduates can benefit from the programme developed jointly by UTM and DWA, led by highly-qualified subject matter experts from UTM to rapidly build skills and competencies necessary to lead modern, digital businesses.
