Kuala Lumpur – redONE Mobile, through Yayasan redONE, took to the streets of Kuala Lumpur to partner with Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) in delivering meals to the homeless. In a day fuelled by purpose and compassion, a team of 20 volunteers distributed nourishing meals across key areas such as Pudu, Petaling Street, and Central Market, ensuring those in need received a warm, wholesome meal.
The event began at KSK’s hub at Jalan Imbi, where volunteers helped prepare the meal sets before setting out in teams to cover various routes. As they navigated the bustling streets of Kuala Lumpur, the volunteers made their way through areas frequented by the homeless, ensuring they had access to essential sustenance.
This community outreach effort is part of redONE Mobile’s ongoing dedication to social responsibility, reinforcing the company’s commitment to supporting local initiatives that make a tangible impact, while also serving as a reminder of the importance of giving back, with volunteers dedicating their weekend to help those less fortunate.
“As a company, our CSR activities are more than just about doing business. It’s about supporting each other and standing together with the community. We believe true success lies in making a positive impact on those in need, because only by working together can we build a better future for all. This meal distribution with Kechara Soup Kitchen allows us to give back directly to the community and is just one of many ways we aim to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Ameen Amaendran, Chief Executive Officer of redONE Mobile.
“This partnership with redONE Mobile aligns perfectly with Kechara Soup Kitchen’s mission to address the immediate needs of the homeless and underserved communities while working towards long-term solutions. Together, we are making a tangible difference by ensuring access to basic necessities, such as warm meals, and fostering hope for a better tomorrow,” said Elisa Khong, Managing Director of Kechara Soup Kitchen Society.
Kechara Soup Kitchen Society (KSK Society) has been serving marginalised communities in Malaysia for over 17 years; these include the homeless, urban poor and Orang Asli populations. In recent years, KSK has strategically expanded its focus upstream of the poverty curve to reach the urban poor via its Food Bank and Empowerment Programs and together with redONE Mobile, is able to provide assistance to the most vulnerable segments of the community, before they fall into complete poverty and hardship.
Last year, redONE Mobile made a meaningful impact through various CSR initiatives including supporting the homeless at Pusat Gelandangan Transit Kuala Lumpur and orphaned children during Ramadan. The company also partnered with Persatuan Kebajikan Suara Kanak-kanak Malaysia (SUKA) on the ‘Empowered 2 Teach’ program for indigenous children in Gopeng, Perak, and the ‘Program Ibadah Qurban’ to provide meat donations to communities on the East Coast of Malaysia for Hari Raya Aidiladha.
Through its collaboration with KSK, redONE Mobile continues to provide much needed assistance where it matters most, ensuring that those facing hardships are not forgotten.
